She is anrninternationally renowned interior & product designer as well as a sculptor, arndesign industry connector and a creative experience producer. Driven by her desire to positively affect the economic future of indigenous craft,rnKirar began a period of independent study, traveling to Mexico to learn aboutrntraditional materials & techniques. During this period of inspiring research andrncollaboration with celebrated Mexican artisans Kirar produced beautiful examplesrnof what she calls “the marriage of modern design with traditional technique.” Herrnrecent sculptural objects and the “Laura Kirar Limited Edition” works were born ofrnthis experience. Most recently, Kiraru2019s functional sculptures rendered with ancientrnnative fibers debuted in a solo show titled “Speaking in Tongues” at MaisonrnGerard in New York City.
Kirar holds a degree in sculpture & interior architecture from the prestigiousrnSchool of the Art Institute of Chicago, and her passion for artistic exploration inrnnumerous mediums has continued to infuse her work with originality andrnthoughtful attention to detail. Her extensive world travels and studio work inrnMexico are powerful influences on each project Kirar undertakes. Laura Kirar hasrnmade an indelible mark on the design industry as a creator, patron, facilitator,rncollector, and connector.
